The pool heat pump must be connected after the filter in the return pipe to
the pool .If an existing heater is being retained, the pool heat pump should
be connected between the filter and the other heater.(See Figures 1&2)
The pool heat pump has water inlet/outlet connections as follows: all
models1½ ’BSP parallel,male.
Suitable breakable couplings should be installed near to pool heat pump.
If heat pump installed at lower level than pool water then isolation valves or
non return valves should be fitted.
Drain valve or plug should be fitted to lower to facilitate complete drain down
in winter period.
Connections on all models from AS-H14Y to AS-H120Y are by parallel
female fittings sealed by‘O’ring or silicone mastic ,these should be hand
tightened only ,otherwise damage may result to the threads of plastic fittings.
The drain collector at the bottom of the unit collects the condensation water
from the evaporator. This should be run away to waste via ?' drain hose
supplied.
All plumbing must be adequately supported with allowance for expansion/
contraction especially with plastic plumbing.
It is recommend that when installing water system the last connections to be
made in the system should be the breakable connections to avoid any
stresses on to the unit connections.
IMPORTANT
Maximum pressure of water in heat pump circuit should not exceed 4kg/cm².
Prior to installing your heat pump:
Siting:
Pool heat pump must be installed using plastic anti vibration pads (probided) on a solid LEVEL
foundation i.e. Concrete base or paving slabs. Using the plastic pads reduces vibration noise
and prevents corrosion to the base of the heat pump. Do not place onto soft ground i.e. grass.
Please Note: the heat pump collects condensation from the evaporator fins and will continually
discharge small amounts of condensate (water) out of the base of the unit via a drain tube.
Therefore, it is recommended that the drain tube is directed to an area with adequate drainage.
Make sure that heat pump remains free of any obstructions, foliage etc. A minimum clearance
is required around heater unit, please see drawing below. Make sure that easy access can be
gained to service panel and plumbing connections. Do not obstruct access panel with plumbing
pipework.
Multiple connections-install heat pumps 500mm apart and independently protecbtl oeackched by loose
INSTALLATION AND SITING
All heat pumps are factory
assembled and tested prior to
delivery. Please check for any
external damage especially to
the evaporator fins.Do not be
concerned about minor damage or
indentations to the fins (especially
where the fan unit is mounted)
as it will not affect performance .
If severe damage has occurred
p l e a s e c o n ta c t yo u r s u p p l i e r
immediately and do not attempt
to install pool heat pump.
IF HEAT PUMP HAS BEEN PLACED
ON IT'S SIDE IN TRANSIT THEN
HEATER MUST BE LEFT IN AN
UPRIGHT POSITION FOR A MINIMUM
PERIOD OF 24 HRS PRIOR TO
OPERATION.
(Failing the above may cause
damage to the heat pump and
invalidate your warranty).
unit by
20amp MCB for plumbing detail. Make sure that heat pump grilles are not
debris such as leaves, grass cuttings, garden furniture etc.
All units are designed to be installed outside. If unit is to be installed inside the filtration/
plant room adequate ductwork and ventilation must be installed. Please contact your
dealer for advice.
The following parts should be installed
prior to connecting plumbing .
ANTI VIBRATION PADS AND DRAIN TUBE
Install on underside of heater. It is
recommended that Stainless Steel
screws&plugs are used when securing to
floor. Installing anti vibration feet will also
help prevent corrasion to the base of the
heat pump.
4 x ANTI VIBRATION PADS (PLASTIC)
Insert drain valve into drainage hole located
on underside of pool heat pump and push fit the
drainage tube onto valve (tip-you will
find it much easier to insert drain valve
if it is immersed in hot water or sprayed
with silicone spray prior to fitting).
1 x DRAIN VALVE (RUBBER)& 1 x 2m
FLEXIBLE DRAINAGE TUBE
The following water quality must be maintained at all times to prevent
premature corrosion. It is recommended that your water balance is
checked and balanced by a pool professional. Your warranty does not
cover for damaged by poor water chemistry and neglect.
WATER CHEMISTRY
Surface skimmers (above or inground)
Do not use slow dissolving chemical tablets such as chlorine in the skimmer
basket (s). This can lead to high acidic/corrosive pool water affecting the
heat exchanger and resulting in a replacement of the whole unit.
Therefore, we recommend that diluted chemicals are fed directly to
the pool water or use an automatic dosing device.

The pool heat pump has an auto restart function. When the power
supply is switched off accidentally, it will automatically save the
operation mode. When the power supply is restored, the unit
automatically restart after five minutes and operate in the same
operation mode.
When the ambient air temperature is too cold, the evaporator
will start to freeze and the frost will appear on the evaporator
fins, If this happens the pool heat pump will automatically
enter the defrosting mode (Reverse Cycle Defrost) and the
defrosting lamp will be on the display panel. Once the evaporator
copper temperature reaches 30℃ or the setting defrosting time
(8 minutes) , the defrosting function is over and pool heat
pump will revert back to heat the pool water.
AUTO RESTART & DEFROSTING

Check daily to ensure pool water has the correct pH and correct
chemical balance is being maintained.
Isolate machine before entering winter As the heat pump embodies
electrical and rotational equipment, it is recommended for your own
safety that a competent person carries out the following procedure.
1. Switch off electric supply to pool heat pump.
2. Turn off circulation pump.
3. Drain water from pool heat pump by disconnecting plumbing to and
from pool heat pump. Ensure pool heat pump is completely drained.
4. Flush through water circuit in pool heat pump using clean tap water
i.e.A hose into inlet connection - run for minutes minimum.
5. Drain completely - fit plastic bags secured by elastic bands over
water connections.
6. If desired, you can protect from the pool heat pump by covering with
ventilated cover through the winter season. Do not use plastic sheet
as condensation can occur within unit.
If the pool has a frost-thermostat installed to prevent the pool system
from being drained in the winter months, it is recommended that
plumbing by-pass is installed to prevent unnecessary water flow
through the pool heat pump unit.

Most pool heat pumps will generate instantaneous huge electric
current at the start, which may bring the damage to the power
supply system, the pool heat pump with soft-start function can
decrease the instantaneous electric current by 30-50% and supply
the maximum protection to the power supply system.
It happens to most of the pool heat pumps that the condensing water
ices up and block the drainage when the ambient temperature is
below 0℃. The pool heat pump will avoid this problem with the
chassis base anti-icing function, which can automatically melt the
ice and guarantee the drainage of the condensing water.
Most pool heat pumps usually start difficultly when the ambient
temperature is too low. The lubricant of compressor can’t work
smoothly due to the low temperature. The pool heat pump equipped
with the crank heater can remove this potential risk. This useful
design will effectively extend the pool heat pump life span.
When the pool heat pump is not in use and exposed outdoor,
especially in the winter, we recommend to protect it from weather by
protection cover which is made from special material with the high
technology. It is well ventilated with built-in UV inhibitors, water
proof and prevent corrosion.

The pool heat pump capacity normally is influenced by the ambient
temperature. When the ambient temperature is below 0℃, the pool
heat pump capacity will be very low. So we supply electric heater to
reinforce the heating capacity. Users can start the electric heater
when they need. It will guarantee the pool heat pump to work well
at the low ambient temperature.
